For 2 years in a row (2021-2022), I organized an "Explore the Tree of Life" exhibit for Picnic Day, UC Davis's campus-wide outreach event. The exhibit takes guests on a tour of the ecological and evolutionary relationships among earth’s biota and work at UC Davis in the field of ecology and evolutionary biology. Each "station" in the exhibit features a particular taxon, including specimens, hands-on activities, and highlighted research at UC Davis on that taxon. This event was made possible with invaluable help from a dedicated team of graduate students, undergraduates, and postdocs.
In 2021, Picnic Day was held as a virtual event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and our team produced a series of videos and a coloring book as a stand in for a physical exhibit. I produced the video below on crustaceans, but other videos from the virtual exhibit can be found here.
